If you’re on the hunt for a dish that strikes the perfect balance between crispiness and fiery flavor, look no further than Bang Bang Chicken. This delightful dish promises an explosion of flavors with every bite.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ½ lbs chicken tenders or boneless chicken breasts, cut into strips
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup cornstarch
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp ground black pepper
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • ¼ cup Thai sweet chili sauce
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp Sriracha
  • 1 tsp rice vinegar or lime juice
  • Chopped fresh parsley or green onions (optional)
  • Red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Begin your culinary journey by marinating the chicken strips in buttermilk for at least 20 minutes.
  2. While the chicken is marinating, create the delicious coating by mixing flour, cornstarch, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Dredge each marinated chicken piece in the flour mixture, optionally double-dipping for extra crunch.
  4. Heat vegetable oil to about 350°F and fry the chicken strips in batches for 4–5 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  5. Mix mayonnaise, Thai sweet chili sauce, honey, Sriracha, and rice vinegar to create the Bang Bang sauce.
  6. Drizzle or toss the sauce over fried chicken before serving; garnish with optional parsley or red pepper flakes.

Notes

Make sure your oil is hot enough and rest fried chicken on a wire rack to keep it crispy.
