Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground turkey
- 2 teaspoons olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 3 green onions, chopped
- 1/2 cup water chestnuts, finely chopped (optional)
- 1 red chili or 1/2 teaspoon chili flakes
- 1 head butter lettuce, separated and washed
Instructions
- Begin your culinary adventure by carefully washing and drying the butter lettuce leaves. It’s important to keep the leaves intact, as they will be your delightful wraps. Once the leaves are dry, move on to mincing the garlic and ginger.
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Once the oil warms, add the minced garlic and ginger, sautéing it for about a minute.
- Now, it’s time to add the ground turkey to the skillet. Use a spatula to break apart the turkey and cook it until it turns a beautiful golden color and is no longer pink.
- Once the turkey is fully cooked, add in the soy sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, and sesame oil. Mix well, allowing everything to combine. Let the mixture simmer for 2-3 minutes.
- If you opted for water chestnuts, now’s the time to stir them in along with half of the chopped green onions and the red chili or chili flakes for some heat. Let it cook uncovered for another 2-3 minutes.
- With your turkey mixture ready, it’s time to assemble! Take a butter lettuce leaf, and spoon a generous amount of the turkey mix into the center of each leaf.
Notes
You can prepare the turkey filling ahead of time and store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
