Description

This Cheesy Tater Tot Casserole is a delightful dish that combines convenience, versatility, and comforting flavors in one easy-to-make meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 3 cups frozen tater tots
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup frozen mixed vegetables (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional)

Instructions

  1. Start by preheating your oven to 375°F (190°C) and greasing the bottom and sides of a 9×13-inch baking dish with cooking spray or a bit of oil.
  2. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium-high heat until it is well-browned. Make sure to break it up with a spatula as it cooks to ensure even browning throughout.
  3. Add the chopped onion to the skillet with the beef, cooking for about 3–4 minutes until the onions are softened and translucent.
  4. Next, stir in the garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper. Cook for another minute or so to meld the flavors together.
  5. Pour in the cream of mushroom soup and, if using, the frozen mixed vegetables. Mix everything together thoroughly until well combined and heated through.
  6. Spread the beef and soup mixture evenly into your prepared baking dish, smoothing it out with a spatula.
  7. Arrange the frozen tater tots in a single layer over the cheesy mixture, covering it completely.
  8. Place the casserole in your preheated oven and bake it uncovered for about 35–40 minutes.
  9. Once baked, remove the casserole from the oven and let it sit for about 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

This casserole is freezer-friendly; just bake it straight from the freezer, adding a little extra time for it to cook through.
