Description
This Classic Blackberry Cobbler is a delightful dessert that captivates the senses with its sweet and tangy flavors, making it perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 ½ cups blackberries
- ¾ cup granulated sugar (for the filling)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ¾ cup granulated sugar (for the batter)
- 1 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
Instructions
- Start by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C). Take your 9×9-inch baking dish and lightly grease it with butter or a baking spray.
- In a medium bowl, gently toss together the blackberries, ¾ cup of granulated sugar, and lemon juice. Allow this mixture to sit for about 10 minutes.
- While the blackberries are marinating, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, and ¾ cup of sugar in another bowl.
- Pour the milk and vanilla extract into the dry mixture and stir until the batter is smooth and lump-free.
- Take the melted butter and pour it into the greased baking dish, spreading it evenly across the bottom. Carefully pour the batter over the melted butter.
- Using a spoon, gently spoon the blackberry mixture (including the juices) over the batter.
- Place your cobbler in the preheated oven and bake for 45 to 55 minutes.
- After baking, remove the cobbler from the oven and let it cool for 15 to 20 minutes.
Notes
Don’t stir the blackberries into the batter; this helps keep the traditional cobbler texture. Serve warm for the best experience.
