Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (218°C) and place a cast iron skillet inside to heat up.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine all dry ingredients and whisk until blended.
  3. In another bowl, beat eggs and mix in buttermilk and melted butter until smooth.
  4. Combine wet and dry ingredients, stirring gently until just mixed. Fold in optional ingredients if desired.
  5. Carefully remove the hot skillet and coat with vegetable oil.
