Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (218°C) and place a cast iron skillet inside to heat up.
- In a mixing bowl, combine all dry ingredients and whisk until blended.
- In another bowl, beat eggs and mix in buttermilk and melted butter until smooth.
- Combine wet and dry ingredients, stirring gently until just mixed. Fold in optional ingredients if desired.
- Carefully remove the hot skillet and coat with vegetable oil.
- Pour batter into the skillet and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool in the skillet for 10 minutes before serving warm with butter and honey.
