- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 ¾ cups granulated sugar
- 2 ½ teaspoons baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- ¼ to ½ teaspoon almond extract
- ½ cup sliced almonds
- 3–4 cups buttercream frosting
- White chocolate shards (optional)
- Edible gold leaf (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two 8-inch cake pans with parchment paper.
- Beat unsalted butter and granulated sugar until fluffy, then add eggs one at a time, followed by the extracts.
- Add flour mixture alternately with milk until just combined, then divide batter between pans.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean, then cool before frosting.
- Frost and decorate with sliced almonds and white chocolate.
Notes
For a deeper almond flavor, consider toasting the sliced almonds lightly before decoration.
