Description
Cottage Cheese Flatbread Recipe and steps
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup Cottage Cheese (full-fat, reduced-fat, or fat-free)
- 2 Large Whole Eggs
- ¾ tsp Garlic Powder (optional, for added flavor)
- 1 tsp Italian Seasoning (optional, for extra aroma)
- Oregano (for sprinkling on top)
Instructions
Step 1: Blend the Ingredients
- In a food processor or blender, combine cottage cheese, eggs, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning.
- Blend on high speed until the mixture becomes smooth and well-combined.
- The texture should be creamy with no lumps. If needed, scrape down the sides of the blender and blend again to ensure uniform consistency.
Step 2: Prepare the Baking Sheet
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent the flatbread from sticking.
- Lightly spray the parchment paper with cooking spray or brush it with a small amount of oil. This step ensures easy removal after baking.
Step 3: Shape the Flatbread
- Pour the blended cottage cheese mixture onto the prepared baking sheet.
- Use a spatula to spread the mixture evenly, shaping it into a round, oval, or rectangular flatbread.
- Adjust the thickness based on your preference:
- Thicker flatbread will take longer to bake but will be softer and chewier.
- Thinner flatbread will cook faster and have a crispier texture.
Step 4: Add Seasonings & Final Touches
- Sprinkle oregano on top of the flatbread to enhance its flavor.
- Optionally, you can add:
- Sesame seeds or flaxseeds for a nutty crunch.
- Chili flakes for a spicy kick.
- Grated parmesan cheese for an extra cheesy taste.
Step 5: Bake to Perfection
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (176°C).
- Place the baking sheet on the middle rack of the oven.
- Bake for 30–35 minutes until the flatbread turns golden brown and has a slightly firm texture.
- If the flatbread is too soft, leave it in the oven for an additional 5 minutes.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool completely before slicing.
Notes
- For a crispier texture, bake the flatbread slightly longer or finish it under a broiler for 2–3 minutes.
- For a softer, pliable wrap-style flatbread, slightly underbake it and let it cool at room temperature.
- If your flatbread turns out too moist, pat it with a paper towel to absorb excess moisture.
