  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 3 garlic cloves (minced)
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups whole milk (warm)
  • 1 1/2 cups sharp cheddar cheese (freshly shredded)
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground mustard (optional)
  • 4 large flour tortillas (10-inch)
  • Optional: sautéed onions, spinach, diced tomatoes, or jalapeños

Instructions

  1. Start by taking your sliced chicken breasts and placing them into a mixing bowl. Drizzle the olive oil over the chicken and then add the garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Use your hands or a spoon to thoroughly combine the seasonings with the chicken, ensuring every piece is well-coated with the flavorful mixture.
  2. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat and add the seasoned chicken to the pan. Allow the chicken to cook for approximately 4–6 minutes per side, or until fully cooked.
  3. In a clean saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds. Sprinkle in the flour to create a roux, stirring until smooth. Gradually pour in the warm milk while whisking to prevent lumps.
  4. Take the sauce off the heat and stir in the cheddar and Parmesan cheese until melted and well combined.
  5. Warm the tortillas in a skillet or microwave for 15-20 seconds.
  6. To assemble, take a warm tortilla, place cooked chicken in the center, and spoon over the garlic cheese sauce.
  7. Roll the tortilla tightly, then return it to the skillet to toast each side for 1–2 minutes.
