- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- ¼ teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- ¼ cup breadcrumbs (optional, for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Cook the macaroni in salted boiling water until al dente, drain well, and set aside.
- In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about a minute. Stir in the flour to form a roux, cooking for 1-2 minutes until slightly golden.
- Gradually add the milk and heavy cream while whisking continuously until the mixture is smooth and thickened.
- Stir in the Parmesan cheese, salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Taste and adjust the seasoning.
- Combine the cooked macaroni with the Alfredo sauce, then transfer to a prepared baking dish. Sprinkle with mozzarella cheese and breadcrumbs, if desired. Bake for 15-20 minutes until the top is golden brown.
