Description

This Creamy Alfredo Mac and Cheese is a comforting dish that combines the luxury of Alfredo sauce with the nostalgia of macaroni and cheese, featuring a velvety texture and rich, cheesy flavors.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz elbow macaroni
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 ½ cups grated Parmesan cheese
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ¼ cup breadcrumbs (optional, for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Cook the macaroni in salted boiling water until al dente, drain well, and set aside.
  2. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about a minute. Stir in the flour to form a roux, cooking for 1-2 minutes until slightly golden.
  3. Gradually add the milk and heavy cream while whisking continuously until the mixture is smooth and thickened.
  4. Stir in the Parmesan cheese, salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Taste and adjust the seasoning.
  5. Combine the cooked macaroni with the Alfredo sauce, then transfer to a prepared baking dish. Sprinkle with mozzarella cheese and breadcrumbs, if desired. Bake for 15-20 minutes until the top is golden brown.
