  • Author: Alioui

  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

Classic Creamy Hummus is a versatile and healthy dip that’s loved worldwide for its rich, savory taste and smooth texture.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (400g) chickpeas, drained and rinsed
  • 1/4 cup tahini
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil, plus extra for serving
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • Salt to taste
  • Water, as needed
  • Fresh parsley, for garnish

Instructions

  1. To start your hummus journey, gather all your ingredients—chickpeas, tahini, olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, and cumin. Drain and rinse the chickpeas well to remove excess sodium and any canning liquid. This step ensures a cleaner taste in the final dish.
  2. Combine the rinsed chickpeas, tahini, olive oil, lemon juice, minced garlic, ground cumin, and a pinch of salt in a food processor. Blend the mixture until it’s smooth and creamy. Adjust the consistency by adding water gradually, one tablespoon at a time, until you reach your desired texture. This gradual addition of water helps prevent oversaturation.
  3. Once blended, taste the hummus to check for balance. Adjust seasonings to preference—add more salt for savoriness or more lemon for zing. Transfer your hummus to a serving bowl.
  4. Drizzle some olive oil over the top of your hummus for added richness and garnish with fresh parsley. Serve with pita bread or your choice of veggies and enjoy!

Notes

Homemade hummus can be frozen in airtight containers for up to three months. Add a layer of olive oil on top to maintain freshness.
