Creamy French Onion Chicken is a comforting yet elegant meal combining rustic flavors of French onion soup with tender chicken and rice.

- 1 1/2 cups uncooked white rice
- 1 can (10.5 oz) of French onion soup
- 1 1/2 cans of water (use the empty soup can to measure)
- 1/4 cup of butter, cut into small pieces
- 1 lb. chicken breast, cubed and boneless
- 1 1/2 cups of Gruyere cheese, shredded
- 1 packet (1 oz) of dry onion soup mix
- 1 cup crispy French fried onions
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and spread the uncooked white rice across the bottom of a 13×9-inch baking pan.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the cubed chicken with the French onion soup and water. Sprinkle the dry onion soup mix over the top.
- Pour the chicken mixture over the rice in the baking pan and scatter the butter pieces on top.
- Add a layer of shredded Gruyere cheese and cover the pan tightly with aluminum foil. Bake for 1 hour and 15 minutes.
- Remove the foil, sprinkle crispy French fried onions on top, and return to the oven for an additional 5 minutes.
Notes
For a creamier texture, consider adding a splash of heavy cream before baking.
