This delicious side dish features layers of creamy potatoes baked to perfection, finished with a golden cheese crust.

- 3 lbs russet potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1 cup whole milk
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan
- 3 tbsp butter
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg (optional)
- Fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Grease a baking dish with butter.
- In a saucepan, melt the butter, add garlic, and sauté. Then mix in heavy cream and milk, and add spices.
- Layer half the potato slices, drizzle with half the cream mixture, and sprinkle half the cheeses.
- Repeat layers with remaining ingredients.
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes, then uncover and bake for another 20 minutes or until golden.
- Let rest for 10 minutes before serving.

This dish can be prepared a day ahead of time and stored in the fridge before baking.
