Description
These mashed potatoes offer wonderful flavors and creamy textures.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3 large sweet potatoes, peeled and cubed
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1/3 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt (optional)
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg (optional)
- Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- Chopped fresh parsley, for garnish
Instructions
- Begin by peeling the sweet potatoes and cutting them into even-sized cubes. Place the cubed sweet potatoes in a large pot and fill it with enough salted water to cover them completely.
- Bring the pot to a rolling boil, then reduce the heat to a gentle simmer. Allow the sweet potatoes to cook for 15-20 minutes, or until they are fork-tender.
- Return the drained sweet potatoes to the pot or a large mixing bowl. Use a potato masher or a hand mixer to blend the sweet potatoes until they’re buttery smooth.
- Add the butter and heavy cream. If using sour cream or Greek yogurt, add it now too, along with minced garlic. Stir until smooth.
- Season with salt, black pepper, ground cinnamon, and nutmeg if using. Adjust seasonings to your preference.
- Transfer to a serving dish and garnish with chopped fresh parsley. Serve warm.
Notes
For an extra creamy mash, use a food processor for blending.
