Creamy Sweet Mashed Potatoes

  • Author: Alioui
  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 6 servings 1x

Description

These mashed potatoes offer wonderful flavors and creamy textures.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 large sweet potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/3 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt (optional)
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg (optional)
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • Chopped fresh parsley, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Begin by peeling the sweet potatoes and cutting them into even-sized cubes. Place the cubed sweet potatoes in a large pot and fill it with enough salted water to cover them completely.
  2. Bring the pot to a rolling boil, then reduce the heat to a gentle simmer. Allow the sweet potatoes to cook for 15-20 minutes, or until they are fork-tender.
  3. Return the drained sweet potatoes to the pot or a large mixing bowl. Use a potato masher or a hand mixer to blend the sweet potatoes until they’re buttery smooth.
  4. Add the butter and heavy cream. If using sour cream or Greek yogurt, add it now too, along with minced garlic. Stir until smooth.
  5. Season with salt, black pepper, ground cinnamon, and nutmeg if using. Adjust seasonings to your preference.
  6. Transfer to a serving dish and garnish with chopped fresh parsley. Serve warm.

Notes

For an extra creamy mash, use a food processor for blending.
