Ingredients
Scale
- 16 oz spaghetti
- 1 lb ground beef
- 8 oz Velveeta cheese, cubed
- 2 cups marinara sauce
- 1 small onion, finely diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella (optional, for topping)
- 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Fill a large pot with water, add a generous pinch of salt, and bring it to a rolling boil. Add the spaghetti and cook it to an al dente texture, following the package instructions. Drain and reserve ½ cup of the pasta water.
- On medium heat, warm up olive oil in a large skillet. Add ground beef, breaking it up as it cooks. Cook until no longer pink, then drain excess fat.
- Add diced onion to beef. Sauté for 3–4 minutes until translucent. Add minced garlic, stirring for an additional minute.
- Add marinara sauce, salt, black pepper, and Italian seasoning. Stir, reduce heat to low, and simmer for 10 minutes.
- Gradually add Velveeta cubes, stirring until cheese is melted and sauce is creamy.
- Add spaghetti to skillet, tossing to coat with sauce. Add reserved pasta water if needed.
- Optional: For added flavor, spoon into a baking dish, top with mozzarella, and broil for 2-3 minutes until bubbly and golden.
- Sprinkle with fresh parsley before serving.
Notes
Always reserve some pasta water when draining spaghetti. It helps the sauce stick better, creating a glossy, cohesive dish.
