- 2 lbs potatoes, thinly sliced
- ¼ cup olive oil
- 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar
- 2 tsp fresh thyme leaves
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- Fresh thyme sprigs (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and prepare your cake or tart pan.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the thinly sliced potatoes with the olive oil, balsamic vinegar, fresh thyme, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
- Layer half of the seasoned potato slices in the prepared pan and repeat with the remaining slices, compacting them slightly.
- Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
- Remove the foil and continue baking for another 20–25 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
- Let the torte cool for 5–10 minutes before serving, garnished with fresh thyme.
Notes
For extra crispiness, broil the top of the torte for a minute or two after uncovering it.
