Description
A delightful culinary treat with irresistible crunch and zestiness.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 pieces white fish fillets (such as cod or haddock)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 cup vegetable oil (for frying)
- 4 sandwich buns
- 1 cup shredded lettuce
- 1/2 cup tartar sauce
- 1/4 cup sliced pickles
Instructions
- Begin by preheating the vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat. This will ensure that when it’s time to fry the fish, the oil will be at the perfect temperature to get that crispy outer layer.
- In a shallow dish, blend the flour, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Dip each fish fillet into this mixture, then into the beaten egg, ensuring each piece is well-coated. Finally, press the fish into the breadcrumbs, covering all sides thoroughly to ensure maximum crispiness.
- Carefully place the coated fish fillets into the hot oil. Fry them for about 3-4 minutes on each side. You’re looking for a golden-brown finish, indicating they’re cooked through and crispy.
- Once fried, remove the fish from the oil and drain on paper towels. Toast the sandwich buns lightly in the pan. Spread tartar sauce generously on the bottom bun, then layer with fried fish, shredded lettuce, and pickles before capping with the top bun. Serve immediately for best taste.
Notes
Ensure the oil is hot enough before frying; too low a temperature results in greasy fish.
