Ingredients

  • 1 box chocolate cake mix
  • ½ cup melted butter (unsalted preferred, but salted works too)
  • 3 large eggs (divided)
  • 1 (8 oz) package cream cheese, softened
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • ½ cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet or milk, based on preference)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine chocolate cake mix, melted butter, and one egg to form the crust.
  3. In another bowl, beat cream cheese, add remaining eggs, powdered sugar, and vanilla, then fold in pecans and chocolate chips for the filling.
  4. Spread filling over the crust in the baking dish.
  5. Bake for 40-45 minutes until the top is set and the center is soft.
  6. Cool, cut, and serve warm or at room temperature.
