Description
This Amish Apple Fritter Bread is a delightful blend of spiced apples and sweet goodness.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1/3 cup light brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 3/4 teaspoons baking powder
- 2/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 large apple, peeled and chopped (about 1 cup)
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1–2 tablespoons milk (for the glaze)
Instructions
- Begin by setting your oven to 350°F (175°C), a crucial first step as it ensures the oven is hot and ready by the time your batter is prepared.
- In a small bowl, combine the light brown sugar with the cinnamon.
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar until the mixture is light and fluffy.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour and baking powder. Add this mixture to your creamed mixture alternately with the milk.
- Pour half of the batter into your prepared pan, scattering half of the chopped apples over the top, then sprinkling with half of the cinnamon sugar mix. Repeat these layers. Use a knife to gently swirl the layers together.
- Place the loaf pan in the oven, allowing it to bake for 50–60 minutes.
Notes
Ensure your butter is truly softened for better creaming with the sugar.
