  • ½ cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs

  • 1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
  • 1 cup raisins (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar using an electric mixer until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the applesauce and vanilla extract.
