Description
Our Apple and Custard Impossible Pie not only epitomizes simple, indulgent comfort food but is also a testament to the power of baking.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups thinly sliced apples (peeled)
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk (or dairy milk)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 4 large eggs
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
Optional Toppings:
- Whipped cream or vanilla ice cream
- Cinnamon sugar for dusting
Instructions
- Begin by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a mixing bowl, toss sliced apples with sugar and cinnamon.
- For the custard mixture, place flour, unsweetened almond milk, eggs, vanilla extract, and baking powder into a blender. Blend these ingredients to achieve a smooth batter.
- Take your prepared pie dish and lightly grease it to ensure easy removal post-baking. Evenly spread the cinnamon-coated apple slices over the bottom of the dish. Then pour the blended custard mixture evenly over the apples.
- With the oven preheated, place the pie in to bake for 45–50 minutes.
- Once baked, let your pie cool for about 10–15 minutes before serving.
Notes
Ensure apple slices are thin for even cooking; thicker slices may lead to underbaked sections.
