- 2 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons milk (as needed)
- 1/4 cup walnuts, finely chopped (optional)
Instructions
- Activate the yeast by combining it with lukewarm water and sugar. Let sit for 10 minutes until bubbly.
- Mix wet ingredients: scalded milk, melted butter, mashed banana, remaining sugar, and salt until smooth.
- Combine the wet and dry ingredients, mixing gradually until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic, then let it rise until doubled.
- Roll out the dough to a rectangle and prepare the filling with melted butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- Shape the rolls and cut them into slices, then let rise again in a greased pan.
- Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 22-24 minutes until golden brown.
- Prepare the cream cheese icing while the rolls bake.
- Serve the warm rolls topped with icing.
