  • 2 tablespoons softened butter
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 3 bananas, sliced
  • 1/2 cup walnuts, finely chopped
  • 2 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons milk (as needed)
  • 1/4 cup walnuts, finely chopped (optional)

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast by combining it with lukewarm water and sugar. Let sit for 10 minutes until bubbly.
  2. Mix wet ingredients: scalded milk, melted butter, mashed banana, remaining sugar, and salt until smooth.
  3. Combine the wet and dry ingredients, mixing gradually until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic, then let it rise until doubled.
  5. Roll out the dough to a rectangle and prepare the filling with melted butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  6. Shape the rolls and cut them into slices, then let rise again in a greased pan.
  7. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 22-24 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Prepare the cream cheese icing while the rolls bake.
  9. Serve the warm rolls topped with icing.
