Description
Sink your teeth into the deliciousness of a Beef and Cheddar Sandwich, a meal that embodies comfort and satisfaction in every bite!
Ingredients
Scale
- 8 oz roast beef, thinly sliced
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
- 2 sandwich buns
- 2 tablespoons BBQ sauce (optional)
Instructions
- Begin by lightly toasting your sandwich buns until they reach a golden-brown color.
- In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter until it’s bubbly. Sprinkle in the all-purpose flour, stirring continuously for about a minute to create a roux. Gradually whisk in the milk, ensuring to stir consistently to avoid lumps. Continue cooking until the mixture thickens. Once thickened, add in the shredded cheddar cheese, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
- While your cheese sauce is simmering, it’s time to warm your sliced roast beef.
- Spread a layer of optional BBQ sauce on the bottom half of each toasted bun; this will add a lovely depth of flavor.
- If you desire, place the assembled sandwich back under the broiler for 1-2 minutes until everything is warmed and checks are slightly crispy.
Notes
For the best melting cheese, always opt for freshly shredded cheddar instead of pre-shredded packets.
