Cherry Cheesecake Danish

  • Author: Alioui
  • Total Time: 40 minutes
  • Yield: 8 servings

Description

Cherry Cheesecake Danish is a delightful combination of flaky puff pastry and rich cheesecake, topped off with luscious cherry filling.

Ingredients

  • Puff pastry sheets: 1 package (about 17 ounces), thawed
  • Cream cheese: 8 ounces, softened
  • Granulated sugar: 1/3 cup
  • Vanilla extract: 1 teaspoon
  • Cherry pie filling: 1 cup
  • Egg: 1 large, beaten
  • Powdered sugar: 1/2 cup
  • Milk: 1 to 2 tablespoons

Instructions

  1. Start by preheating your oven to 400°F (200°C). This high temperature is essential for achieving those perfect flaky layers in your puff pastry. While the oven heats up, line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract. With a hand mixer or a whisk, beat these ingredients together until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
  3. Unfold your thawed puff pastry sheets on a lightly floured surface. To create 8 equal portions, cut each sheet into four squares. Place these squares on your prepared baking sheet.
  4. Spoon a generous dollop of the cheesecake mixture into the center of each square, being careful not to overfill. Next, top each cheesecake filling with a spoonful of cherry pie filling.
  5. Lightly score or fold the corners of the pastry. Finally, take the beaten egg and gently brush it on the exposed edges of the pastry.
  6. Transfer your baking sheet to the preheated oven and bake the danishes for 18-22 minutes. Watch them closely as they bake.
  7. Prepare a smooth glaze by whisking the powdered sugar and milk together in a small bowl until combined. Once your danishes have cooled a bit, generously drizzle this icing over the top for that finishing touch!

Notes

Keep the puff pastry cold until you’re ready to use it; this ensures it remains flaky. Leftovers can be reheated in the oven to maintain the crisp texture, avoiding a soggy result.
