Instructions

- Cream the vegetable shortening for about 30 seconds. Gradually add granulated sugar, continue beating until light and fluffy. Add molasses and large egg, combining thoroughly.
- Mix dry with wet mixture on low speed until a cohesive dough forms.
- Shape dough into 1½-inch balls, dip in water, then roll in sugar.
- Place sugar-coated balls on baking sheet 3 inches apart, bake for 11–14 minutes and let cool on wire rack.
