Ingredients
Scale
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup packed light brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- 2 large eggs
- 2 cups semisweet and/or milk chocolate chips
Instructions
- Start by heating your oven to 350°F (175°C). While the oven warms up, line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour and baking soda.
- Using an electric mixer, beat the room temperature butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar together until the mixture becomes light and fluffy.
- Mix in the salt, vanilla extract, and eggs with the creamed butter and sugar until everything is well-blended.
- Gradually stir the dry flour mixture into the wet ingredients until just blended, then fold in the semisweet and/or milk chocolate chips.
- Divide the dough into two portions. Roll each half out into rectangles about ¼ inch thick. Cut the dough into strips and give each strip a gentle twist.
- Transfer the twisted strips onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving space between each. Bake them for 10–12 minutes or until they reach a golden hue. Cool them slightly on the baking sheets before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
Make sure your butter is at room temperature to ensure a smooth, even mix. To prevent cookies from spreading too much, consider chilling the dough in the fridge for about 30 minutes before shaping and baking.
