Description

  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened (for filling)
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar (for filling)
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour (for filling)
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon (for filling)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 2 tablespoons milk (for glaze)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. Whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine buttermilk, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla, and whisk until smooth.
  4. Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined.
  5. Mix softened butter, brown sugar, flour, and cinnamon for the filling until smooth.
  6. Spread half the cake batter evenly in the greased pan.
  7. Spoon cinnamon filling over the batter, spread it out gently.
  8. Drop spoonfuls of remaining batter over the filling and spread to cover.
  9. Bake for 30-35 minutes, checking with a toothpick for doneness.
  10. Prepare glaze by mixing powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
  11. Once baked, cool the cake for 10 minutes, then drizzle glaze over it while warm.
  12. Serve warm or at room temperature.
