Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 tablespoons unsalted butter, divided
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 celery ribs, diced
  • 3 to 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 teaspoon seasoned salt, divided
  • 3/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper, divided
  • 2 teaspoons dried sage
  • 1 teaspoon poultry seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 can (284 grams) condensed cream of chicken soup
  • 1 can (284 grams) condensed cream of celery soup
  • 2 large eggs
  • 480 millilitres chicken broth
  • 120 millilitres whole milk
  • 1 bag (340 grams) cornbread stuffing mix
  • 3 cups (approximately 120 grams) herb seasoned stuffing mix

Instructions

  1. Begin your journey by melting 4 tablespoons of butter in a large skillet over medium heat. This step is crucial as it prepares a flavorful base for your stuffing mixture.
  2. Next, it’s time to arrange the chicken breasts in your pre-greased slow cooker. Sprinkle the chicken with 1/2 teaspoon of seasoned salt and 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper for flavor.
  3. In a separate mixing bowl, combine the condensed cream of chicken soup, condensed cream of celery soup, eggs, chicken broth, and whole milk. Add the dried sage, poultry seasoning, garlic powder, along with the remaining amounts of seasoned salt and black pepper. Blend all the ingredients until they are thoroughly combined.
  4. Once your cream mixture is unified, it’s time to fold in the stuffing! Add the cornbread stuffing mix and the herb seasoned stuffing mix into the bowl. Stir the ingredients together until the stuffing is evenly moistened.
  5. Now that your stuffing mix is ready, spoon it evenly over the chicken breasts in the slow cooker. To enhance the buttery flavor, cut the remaining 4 tablespoons of butter into thin slices and scatter them atop the stuffing mixture.
  6. Cover the slow cooker and set it to LOW for 4 hours. When the cooking time is complete, use two forks to gently shred the chicken within the dish.

Notes

Ensure to use a reliable slow cooker that can maintain a consistent low temperature for the best results.
