  • 12 lasagna noodles (uncooked)
  • 15 oz ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh basil
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • Olive oil (for greasing)

Instructions

  1. Begin by preheating your oven to 375°F (190°C), cooking the ground beef over medium heat until browned.
  2. Add diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet and cook until soft.
  3. Stir in marinara sauce and diced tomatoes, add spices, and let simmer.
  4. Blend ricotta cheese with egg, half of the Parmesan cheese, fresh basil, parsley, salt, and pepper.
  5. Grease Dutch oven, layer with noodles, beef mixture, ricotta mix, and mozzarella; repeat layers.
  6. Bake with lid for 45 minutes, then remove lid and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until golden.
