Description
If you’re craving something warm, cozy, and downright delicious, look no further than this Fried Apples recipe.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 medium apples
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch (optional)
Instructions
- Start your fried apple adventure by peeling, coring, and slicing the apples into wedges about 1/2-inch thick.
- Next, heat your large skillet over medium heat. Once it’s warm, add the butter, allowing it to melt completely until it begins to foam lightly.
- Now, add the sliced apples to the skillet, making sure to sprinkle the brown sugar evenly over them.
- To amp up the flavor, sprinkle in the ground cinnamon and pour in the vanilla extract.
- Let the apples simmer for about 10 to 15 minutes or until they become tender and start to caramelize.
- If you prefer your fried apples to have a thicker glaze, you can create a simple cornstarch slurry.
- Once the apples are beautifully caramelized and tender, remove them from the heat.
Notes
Use sweet apples like Honeycrisp or Fuji for the best flavor.
