Description
Indulging in a dessert that artfully combines rich flavors can be one of life’s simplest pleasures. Enter the Glazed Blueberry Brownies – a delightful treat that marries the deep, chocolaty essence of brownies with the bright, sweet notes of blueberries.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1½ cups blueberries, fresh or frozen (thawed)
- 10 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 1¼ cups granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs, room temperature
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ teaspoon sea salt
- 1 cup all-purpose flour, sifted
- Glaze: 1 cup powdered sugar, sifted
- 2 tablespoons milk
- ⅛ teaspoon vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- Begin by blending the blueberries until smooth. This puree serves as the secret ingredient that infuses flavor throughout the brownies. Pour the blueberry puree into a saucepan set on medium-low heat and let it gently simmer. Stir constantly to ensure even cooking, allowing it to reduce down to about 1/2 cup. Once the mixture thickens slightly, remove it from the heat and let it cool.
- While your blueberry reduction cools, preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C) and prepare your baking dish. Line an 8×8 inch glass baking dish with parchment paper, making sure the paper hangs over the edges slightly for easy removal after baking.
- In a medium-sized bowl, combine the melted unsalted butter and granulated sugar, stirring them together until completely blended. Next, add in the room temperature eggs, vanilla extract, and sea salt. Whisk these components together until you achieve a smooth mixture.
- Now it’s time to add the cooled blueberry reduction to your wet mixture. Gently fold it in using a spatula, creating a beautiful purple hue.
- Gradually add the sifted all-purpose flour to the mixture. Stir just until combined—overmixing can lead to dense brownies. Pour the batter into your prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly across the surface. Bake for 35-40 minutes, checking for doneness around the 30-minute mark.
- While waiting for your brownies to cool, mix the sifted powdered sugar, milk, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt until the mixture is smooth and silky. Once your brownies are completely cool, generously spread half of the glaze over them.
- Once the glaze has set, carefully lift the brownies out of the dish using the parchment paper. Slice them into 16 squares.
