Description

This Hearty Amish Casserole is the epitome of comfort food, featuring layers of pasta, ground beef, and creamy sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 12 oz rotini pasta
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp chopped chives or parsley (optional for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the rotini pasta and cook until al dente, about 8-10 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  3. Heat a skillet over medium heat and add the ground beef, cooking until browned. Drain excess fat.
  4. Add the diced onion to the skillet, stirring until translucent, about 3-4 minutes. Stir in minced garlic and cook for 1 more minute.
  5. Add tomato sauce, cream of mushroom soup, and sour cream to the skillet. Simmer for 5–7 minutes and season with salt and pepper.
  6. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked pasta with the beef and sauce mixture.
  7. Transfer to a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
  8. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top.
  9. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 20 minutes. Remove foil and bake for another 10-15 minutes until cheese is golden brown.
  10. Let cool for 5-10 minutes before serving. Garnish with chives or parsley, if desired.
