Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
- 1 cup warm milk (110°F)
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened (for filling)
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2–3 tbsp milk (for glaze)
Instructions
- Begin by dissolving the yeast in warm milk within a large bowl. Let this mixture sit for about 5 minutes. It becomes foamy and bubbly, indicating that the yeast is active and ready to work its magic.
- Once the yeast is activated, stir in the granulated sugar, melted butter, salt, and eggs. Gradually add the flour, stirring until a dough begins to form. Mix until cohesive and slightly sticky.
- Transfer the dough onto a floured surface. Knead it for 6-8 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic. Proper kneading ensures the buns will rise nicely, creating that perfect texture.
- Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm, draft-free place for about an hour, or until it doubles in size. This rising time is pivotal for the lightness of the buns.
- In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar and cinnamon to make a sugary spicy mix. Then, roll the dough into a rectangle around 1/4 inch thick. Spread the softened butter over the dough, sprinkle with the cinnamon sugar, and drizzle with honey.
- Roll the dough tightly from the long side, forming a neat log. Using a sharp knife, slice it into 1-inch sections. These become the buns ready for baking.
- Place the sliced buns into a greased baking dish, cover, and let them rise again for about 30 minutes. Meanwhile, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the buns for 20-25 minutes or until they are beautifully golden brown.
- To complete these treats, mix powdered sugar with 2–3 tablespoons of milk to create a creamy glaze. Drizzle this over the warm buns, and they’re ready to serve, oozy and delicious.
