Description
This delightful recipe features juicy chicken, vibrant lemon, and aromatic garlic.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb of skinless, boneless chicken breasts, cut into strips
- Zest from 1 lemon and its juice
- 3 minced garlic cloves
- 1 teaspoon of onion powder
- 1 tablespoon of butter (for chicken)
- 1 teaspoon of salt (for chicken)
- 1/8 teaspoon of ground black pepper (for chicken)
- 2 tablespoons of olive oil
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon of Italian herb blend
- 8 oz of bowtie-shaped pasta
- 1/2 cup of shredded Parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons of butter (for sauce)
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt (for pasta)
- 1 pinch of pepper (adjust to taste)
- 1/2 cup of chicken broth
- 1/2 cup of heavy cream
- Chopped parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Begin by filling a large pot with water, seasoning it with salt, and bringing it to a boil. Once boiling, add the bowtie pasta and cook according to package instructions until it’s just al dente. Be sure to stir occasionally to prevent sticking. Once cooked, drain the pasta in a colander but remember to save a cup of the pasta water, as it’ll be useful later for adjusting the sauce’s consistency. Set the pasta aside.
- Next, take your chicken strips and sprinkle them with the Italian herb blend, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chicken to the pan and cook for about 6-7 minutes on each side or until it’s nicely golden brown and cooked through. This step ensures the chicken gets a great sear, delivering flavor and texture.
- Once the chicken is cooked, toss in minced garlic and sauté for about a minute until fragrant—this is where the magic happens! Pour in the fresh lemon juice and zest, followed by a tablespoon of butter. Stir everything well until the butter melts and coats the chicken. Turn the heat off, letting the flavors marry while you prepare the sauce.
- In the same skillet, add the remaining butter and let it melt. Gradually pour in the chicken broth and heavy cream, stirring continuously. Allow the mixture to simmer for about 2-3 minutes until it thickens slightly. This creamy base is going to envelop your pasta beautifully.
- Stir in the grated Parmesan into the thickened sauce, mixing until it completely melts and combines into a smooth sauce. Taste for seasoning and adjust with salt and a little more pepper if desired. Now it’s time to bring everything together—add the cooked pasta to the skillet, ensuring it is well coated in the luscious sauce. If it appears too thick, stir in a little reserved pasta water to reach your desired consistency. Gently fold in the chicken, making sure all the elements are evenly incorporated.
- Once everything is well mixed, serve the Lemon Garlic Chicken Pasta on plates or in bowls. Top each serving with a sprinkle of chopped parsley for a fresh color pop. For those who adore cheese, add a little grated Parmesan on top. Enjoy your dish while it’s deliciously warm!
Notes
The chicken should reach an internal temperature of 165°F for safety.
