Description
Mint Oreo White Bark is a delightful sweet treat that combines the creamy richness of white chocolate with the unique crunch of Oreo cookies, enhanced by a refreshing mint flavor.
Ingredients
Scale
- 20 regular Oreo cookies (half of a 439 g package)
- 680 g white chocolate morsels
- 0.25–0.5 teaspoons mint extract, to taste
- Green food coloring, as needed
Instructions
- Begin by breaking your Oreo cookies into small pieces. This can be done easily by placing them in a zip-top bag and gently crushing them with a rolling pin or your hands. The goal is to have irregular pieces; you want some large chunks for texture and small bits for distribution throughout the bark. Place these cookie pieces into a mixing bowl and set them aside for later incorporation into your chocolate mixture.
- Next, it’s time to melt the white chocolate morsels. You can use either a microwave or a double boiler for this step. If you choose to microwave, heat your chocolate in 30-second intervals, stirring in between each increment to ensure it melts evenly without burning. If using a double boiler, boil water in the bottom pan and place the white chocolate in the top pan until it’s smooth and melted. Once melted, let it cool slightly before adding the mint extract.
- Once your chocolate is melted and cooled a bit, add in the mint extract. Start with a smaller amount and taste it before adding more if you’d like a stronger mint flavor. After mixing in the extract, if you want to give your bark a fun, vibrant look, add a few drops of green food coloring and stir thoroughly until the color is uniform. This not only enhances the visual appeal but also adds to the festive feel of the treat!
- Now, fold the broken Oreo pieces into the melted chocolate mixture using a spatula. Ensure the Oreo pieces are evenly distributed throughout the chocolate. Then, carefully pour the entire mixture into a wax paper-lined baking pan, spreading it evenly to your desired thickness. This step is crucial for ensuring each piece has an even amount of chocolate and cookie when it’s broken apart.
- The last step requires the most patience—place your baking pan in the freezer and let it chill for about two hours, or until the mixture has completely set. Once firm, remove the bark from the pan by lifting the wax paper. Break it into bite-sized pieces and serve in a festive bowl or container for sharing.
