Onion Boil is a delightful and uncomplicated dish that brings the flavors of sweet onions to the forefront.

- 2 large sweet onions
- 2 Tablespoons butter, divided
- 2 teaspoons chili onion crunch
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic
- 1 teaspoon paprika (smoked paprika or regular)
- 1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
- 1 teaspoon Cajun seasoning blend
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning blend
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Prepare your onions by peeling away their outer layers and creating a hole at the top of each onion.
- Utilize a small spoon to scoop out a portion of the inside of each onion, creating a well that goes halfway down.
- Place 1 tablespoon of butter into the well of each onion. Melt the remaining tablespoon of butter in a microwave-safe bowl.
- Mix melted butter with seasonings and pour it into the well of each onion.
- Wrap each onion in aluminum foil, place them in a baking dish, and bake for 50-60 minutes or until fork-tender.
- Peel the foil back and, if desired, drizzle more melted butter and sprinkle seasonings. Broil for 2-3 minutes.
Notes
These onions can be prepared ahead of time up until the wrapping stage.
