  • 2 cups buttermilk (cold)
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh chives (optional)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cups peaches, peeled and chopped (fresh or canned, drained)
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup peach preserves or jam
  • 1 tablespoon water

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C). Place the butter in your baking dish to melt while the oven heats.
  2. Combine flour, baking powder, sugar, salt, and baking soda in a bowl; whisk to mix.
  3. Add cold buttermilk and stir gently until just combined without overmixing.
  4. Dollop the biscuit dough into the melted butter in the baking dish.
  5. Mix chopped peaches with brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice; spoon over the biscuit dough.
  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes until biscuits are golden brown.
  7. Glaze the biscuits with warmed peach preserves mixed with water after baking.
  8. Let rest briefly before serving warm.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container. Can substitute frozen peaches for fresh.
