Description
A delightful meal that’s both nutritious and indulgent.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 steaks (your choice of cut)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups broccoli florets
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 teaspoon lemon zest (optional)
Instructions
- Begin by heating the olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Season your steaks liberally with salt and pepper, and once the skillet is hot, place the steaks in. Cook them for 3-4 minutes on each side, achieving a nice sear. This will enhance the flavor and keep the juices locked in. Once done, remove the steaks from the skillet and let them rest on a plate.
- Using the same skillet, add the minced garlic and sauté for about a minute. The garlic will start releasing a wonderful aroma as it turns golden — be cautious not to burn it, as this can lead to a bitter taste.
- Introduce the broccoli florets to the skillet, allowing them to absorb the garlicky goodness left behind by the steak. Sautee them for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally until they are tender and slightly browned. Season with salt, pepper, and lemon zest if desired for an added zing. Slice the rested steaks and serve them alongside the sautéed broccoli, relish a meal that’s simple yet full of flavor.
Notes
Ensure steaks are at room temperature for even cooking and use a meat thermometer to achieve your preferred steak doneness.
