- 1 pound sausage, ground
- 1 loaf of Italian bread, 16 ounces
- 1 pound ground beef
- 7 ounces of dry spaghetti
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 6 ounces of tomato paste
- 16 ounces of tomato sauce
- ⅔ cup of shredded Mozzarella (divided)
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese (split)
- ½ teaspoon minced garlic
- ½ teaspoon black pepper, ground
- 1 teaspoon salt, divided
- Garlic powder for sprinkling
- Butter for brushing
- 1 tablespoon of Italian herbs seasoning
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F. Cook the spaghetti until al dente, drain and set aside.
- In a skillet, brown sausage, ground beef, and onion. Drain fat and return skillet to heat.
- Add tomato paste, sauce, garlic, herbs, half of the salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5 to 8 minutes.
- Mix spaghetti with meat sauce. Set aside.
- Scoop bread interior, brush with butter and garlic powder, toast in oven.
- Fill bread halves with pasta mixture, top with cheeses, bake 15-20 minutes until cheese is golden.
