  • 1 pound sausage, ground
  • 1 loaf of Italian bread, 16 ounces
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 7 ounces of dry spaghetti
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 6 ounces of tomato paste
  • 16 ounces of tomato sauce
  • ⅔ cup of shredded Mozzarella (divided)
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese (split)
  • ½ teaspoon minced garlic
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper, ground
  • 1 teaspoon salt, divided
  • Garlic powder for sprinkling
  • Butter for brushing
  • 1 tablespoon of Italian herbs seasoning

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F. Cook the spaghetti until al dente, drain and set aside.
  2. In a skillet, brown sausage, ground beef, and onion. Drain fat and return skillet to heat.
  3. Add tomato paste, sauce, garlic, herbs, half of the salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5 to 8 minutes.
  4. Mix spaghetti with meat sauce. Set aside.
  5. Scoop bread interior, brush with butter and garlic powder, toast in oven.
  6. Fill bread halves with pasta mixture, top with cheeses, bake 15-20 minutes until cheese is golden.
