Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 lb ground pork
- 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
- 1 egg
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 tsp ground allspice
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- For the Gravy:
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Begin by combining the breadcrumbs with milk in a small bowl. Let them soak for about five minutes.
- In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, ground pork, the soaked breadcrumbs, chopped onions, egg, salt, black pepper, allspice, and nutmeg.
- Roll the meat mixture into small balls, roughly one inch in diameter. Heat the butter and olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the meatballs in batches.
- In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat and add flour. Whisk to form a roux.
- Gradually pour in the beef broth while whisking continuously. Stir in heavy cream and soy sauce, then let it simmer.
- Return the meatballs to the skillet, simmer for another five minutes.
Notes
If the mixture feels too loose or sticky, extra breadcrumbs can be added until the desired consistency is reached.
