Description

This Thai Basil Chicken is a quick and flavorful dish that combines chicken, fresh basil, and vibrant vegetables.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup fresh basil leaves
  • 1 bell pepper, sliced
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 lb boneless skinless chicken thighs, thinly sliced
  • 1 red chili, sliced (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp fish sauce
  • ¼ cup chicken broth
  • 2 shallots, thinly sliced
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a wok or large pan over medium-high heat, heat the vegetable oil until it shimmers. This is your cue to add the minced garlic and thinly sliced shallots. Sauté them gently for about a minute or until you’re enveloped by their inviting aroma.
  2. Next, introduce the thinly sliced chicken thighs to the wok. Spread them out evenly and cook for 5 to 7 minutes.
  3. Once your chicken is perfectly browned, it’s time to add a pop of color with the bell pepper and chili slices. Allow them to cook for 2 to 3 minutes until they soften slightly.
  4. In a small bowl, combine the oyster sauce, soy sauce, fish sauce, sugar, and chicken broth, and then pour this mixture over the chicken and veggies. Stir everything together thoroughly.
  5. Add the fresh basil leaves. Toss them in quickly, stirring just until they begin to wilt.

Notes

This dish is best served with jasmine rice to soak up the delicious sauce.
