Description

Comforting turkey meatballs served in a rich, creamy gravy that is perfect for any meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 450g ground turkey
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup grated onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp fresh thyme, chopped
  • 1 tsp fresh rosemary, chopped
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard (optional)
  • 1 tsp chopped fresh thyme or parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Begin by taking a large mixing bowl and combining the ground turkey, breadcrumbs, grated onion, minced garlic, egg, fresh herbs, salt, and pepper. Use your hands to gently mix them together until just combined.
  2. Using your hands, scoop out portions of the mixture and roll them into balls about 1.5 inches in diameter. Place these on a tray or plate as you work.
  3. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the meatballs to the pan and allow them to brown on all sides for about 5-7 minutes. Remove the meatballs from the skillet and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium-low heat and add the flour, whisking continuously for 1-2 minutes. Pour in the chicken broth while whisking until the mixture thickens slightly.
  5. Stir in the heavy cream and Dijon mustard (if using) until blended smoothly.
  6. Return the browned meatballs to the skillet, cover them with the gravy, and simmer for 10-12 minutes until cooked through.
  7. Garnish with fresh herbs and serve hot alongside your favorite sides.

Notes

For uniform meatballs, use an ice cream scoop to portion the mixture.
