Description
Comforting turkey meatballs served in a rich, creamy gravy that is perfect for any meal.
Ingredients
Scale
- 450g ground turkey
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 cup grated onion
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp fresh thyme, chopped
- 1 tsp fresh rosemary, chopped
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups chicken broth
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 tsp Dijon mustard (optional)
- 1 tsp chopped fresh thyme or parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Begin by taking a large mixing bowl and combining the ground turkey, breadcrumbs, grated onion, minced garlic, egg, fresh herbs, salt, and pepper. Use your hands to gently mix them together until just combined.
- Using your hands, scoop out portions of the mixture and roll them into balls about 1.5 inches in diameter. Place these on a tray or plate as you work.
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the meatballs to the pan and allow them to brown on all sides for about 5-7 minutes. Remove the meatballs from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium-low heat and add the flour, whisking continuously for 1-2 minutes. Pour in the chicken broth while whisking until the mixture thickens slightly.
- Stir in the heavy cream and Dijon mustard (if using) until blended smoothly.
- Return the browned meatballs to the skillet, cover them with the gravy, and simmer for 10-12 minutes until cooked through.
- Garnish with fresh herbs and serve hot alongside your favorite sides.
Notes
For uniform meatballs, use an ice cream scoop to portion the mixture.
