Delicious Vanilla Buttercream Frosting

  • Author: Alioui

Description

This Vanilla Buttercream Frosting is a simple yet extraordinary way to enhance your desserts.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 to 4 cups powdered sugar, sifted
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 2 to 4 tablespoons heavy cream or whole milk
  • Pinch salt (optional)

Instructions

  1. Start by taking your butter out of the fridge ahead of time to allow it to soften to room temperature.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, use your electric mixer to beat the softened butter. Start mixing on a low speed and gradually increase to medium-high until the butter is fluffy and has turned a pale yellow in color, which should take about 3 to 5 minutes.
  3. Once your butter is fluffy, it’s time to add the powdered sugar. Gradually add in the powdered sugar, about one cup at a time, mixing at a low speed.
  4. After all the sugar is mixed in, pour in the vanilla extract and 2 tablespoons of heavy cream (or whole milk). Mix on medium speed until the mixture becomes smooth and creamy.
  5. Next, increase your mixer speed to high and whip the frosting for an additional 2 to 3 minutes.
  6. Give your frosting a taste. If it leans towards being too sweet for your liking, a pinch of salt can balance the flavors beautifully.

Notes

Store any leftover frosting in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week. Before using it, allow it to come to room temperature and re-whip for best results.
