- 3 cups (360g) all-purpose flour
- ½ tsp cornstarch
- 1 tsp baking soda
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 cup (226g) unsalted butter, room temperature
- 1 ½ cups (297g) granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- ⅛ tsp almond extract
- Red and green sanding sugar
Instructions
- Start by preheating your oven to 350ºF (177ºC) to prepare for baking. In a small bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the unsalted butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Scrape down the sides of the bowl.
- Add the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract to the butter mixture. Beat until well combined.
- Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, mixing until a soft dough forms.
- Using a cookie scoop, portion out the dough and roll into balls. Roll in sanding sugar and place on a baking sheet.
- Bake for 12 to 14 minutes until edges are set; cool before transferring to a wire rack.
