Description
Banana Delight is not just any dessert; it’s a creamy, no-bake sensation that brings the flavors of ripe bananas and vanilla wafers to life.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 tablespoons salted sweet cream butter, softened (for buttering the baking dish)
- 11 ounces vanilla wafers (reserve 4 to 6 wafers for an optional crushed wafer topping)
- 4 large ripe bananas, peeled and sliced
- 16 ounces cream cheese, room temperature
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- ¾ cup powdered sugar
- 16 ounces whipped topping, thawed
- 6.8 ounces instant banana cream pudding mix
- 2 cups cold whole milk
Instructions
- Begin by greasing your 9×9-inch baking dish with the softened butter. Use your hands or a pastry brush to ensure an even coat. This will help prevent the dessert from sticking to the baking dish later on. Once greased, lay down a single layer of vanilla wafers along the bottom and sides, creating a solid base for your layers. Make sure the wafers fit snugly together for the best structure.
- Next, take your sliced bananas and lay them on top of the vanilla wafers. In a separate mixing bowl, beat together the room-temperature cream cheese and vanilla extract with a stand mixer or an electric mixer until creamy and smooth. Mix in the powdered sugar and one cup of whipped topping, spreading this mixture over the banana layer.
- Repeat the wafer layering process by adding another layer of vanilla wafers on top of the cream cheese. Lay the remaining sliced bananas evenly on this new layer of wafers.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the cold whole milk with one cup of whipped topping. Sprinkle the instant banana cream pudding mix over the milk and whipped topping and mix until thickened. Spread this mixture over the last layer.
- Cover your baking dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours. Just before serving, spread remaining whipped topping on top and sprinkle crumbled reserved vanilla wafers.
Notes
Chilling for at least 2 hours enhances the overall taste and texture of the dessert.
