Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb boneless skinless chicken breast, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 head green cabbage, chopped
  • 1 red bell pepper, julienned
  • 1/2 cup green onions, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Begin the dish by marinating the chicken. In a mixing bowl, combine the thinly sliced chicken breast with cornstarch, one tablespoon of soy sauce, and water. Allow to sit for 10 to 15 minutes while preparing the rest of the ingredients.
  2. While the chicken is marinating, whip up the sauce by combining the remaining soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, minced garlic, grated ginger, and red pepper flakes in a small bowl.
  3. Heat one tablespoon of vegetable oil in your wok over medium-high heat, then add the marinated chicken. Cook for about 3 to 5 minutes, stirring frequently, until golden brown. Remove the chicken and set aside.
  4. Add another tablespoon of vegetable oil to the pan, then add chopped cabbage and bell pepper. Stir fry for 3 to 4 minutes, until tender-crisp.
  5. Return the chicken to the wok, pour the sauce over everything, and toss to coat. Cook for an additional 2 minutes.
  6. Sprinkle with sliced green onions and toasted sesame seeds just before serving. Serve hot over rice or noodles.
