Description

There’s something undeniably special about a classic homemade Margherita Pizza.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ball pizza dough (about 250g)
  • 4 oz fresh mozzarella, sliced and patted dry
  • 2 medium ripe tomatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1 handful fresh basil leaves
  • 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1/4 tsp sea salt
  • 1/8 tsp black pepper
  • Optional: 1 clove garlic, minced or garlic-infused olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 500°F (260°C).
  2. Remove your dough ball from the refrigerator and let it come to room temperature (about 30 minutes).
  3. Stretch the dough into a circle about 10 to 12 inches in diameter.
  4. Distribute sliced mozzarella over the dough.
  5. Arrange sliced tomatoes on top of the cheese.
  6. Sprinkle sea salt and black pepper over the toppings.
  7. Drizzle with extra virgin olive oil or add minced garlic.
  8. Bake for 8–12 minutes until the crust is golden brown and cheese is gooey.
  9. Remove from the oven and add fresh basil leaves on top.
  10. Let it sit for 2–3 minutes before slicing.

Notes

Allow the pizza to rest for a few minutes before slicing to prevent toppings from sliding off.
