Christmas Taco Cheese Ball Wreath

  • Author: Alioui
  • Total Time: 4 hours
  • Yield: 8 servings 1x

Description

This charming appetizer not only brings flavor to the table but also adds an engaging visual appeal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (8 oz) package cream cheese, softened
  • 8 oz Monterey Jack cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 packet taco seasoning
  • 1 bunch fresh cilantro, stems removed (divided)
  • 4 green onions, roughly chopped
  • 1 (4 oz) can diced green chile peppers
  • 1 medium Roma tomato, cored and diced
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped white onion
  • 1 medium jalapeño pepper, seeded and finely chopped

Instructions

  1. Start by lining a 16-ounce mixing bowl with plastic wrap. This step is crucial as it allows for an easy release of the cheese ball once it has set. Make sure to leave some plastic wrap hanging over the edges, as this will make it easier to remove the cheese ball later.
  2. In your food processor, combine the softened cream cheese, shredded Monterey Jack cheese, and half a packet of taco seasoning. Blend these ingredients until they transform into a smooth, creamy mixture. Once blended, add in half of the fresh cilantro, green onions, and canned green chiles. Pulse briefly to incorporate the additional ingredients, ensuring that the flecks of green herbs are still visible, as this adds a lovely touch to the final product.
  3. Transfer the blended cheese mixture into the lined bowl. Use a spatula to press it down firmly, making sure to achieve a smooth, flat surface on top. Once shaped, cover the bowl with the overhanging plastic wrap. Place the bowl in the refrigerator and allow it to chill for at least four hours, or ideally, overnight.
  4. When you’re ready to serve your delicious cheese ball, carefully invert the bowl onto a serving platter and gently remove the plastic wrap. You’ll notice the beautiful wreath shape starting to form. To create the signature indentation in the center of the cheese ball, use a small shot glass or spoon to make a shallow hole, giving your cheese ball that wreath-like appearance.
  5. Finely chop the remaining cilantro and generously sprinkle it over the top of the cheese wreath for a fresh and vibrant look. In a separate small bowl, mix together the diced tomato, finely chopped onion, and jalapeño. Carefully arrange this colorful tomato mixture in a ring around the cheese ball to complete the festive look, adding a burst of flavor and color to your holiday appetizer.

Notes

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days for best flavor and quality.
