Description

Celebrate the holiday season with a delightful twist on traditional appetizers by making these Christmas Tree Spinach Dip Breadsticks!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 can refrigerated pizza dough
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • A pinch of salt
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 cup chopped spinach (frozen and drained or fresh)
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. In a spacious mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese and sour cream. Add in the minced garlic and chopped spinach, stirring them into the creamy base. Next, fold in the shredded mozzarella cheese and a splash of lemon juice to brighten the flavor. Don’t forget to season the mixture with salt and black pepper to taste. Once everything is well combined, cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let it chill in the refrigerator while you prepare the breadstick dough.
  2. As the oven warms up, take the refrigerated pizza dough from its can and carefully roll it out on a surface that’s been lined with parchment paper. Using a sharp knife or a pizza cutter, slice the dough into equal strips, approximately 1 inch wide. These strips will form the base of your Christmas tree. Try to keep the lengths varied, with longer strips at the bottom and shorter ones at the top to represent the shape of a tree.
  3. Now it’s time to create the festive shape! Arrange the dough strips on the lined baking sheet, starting from the bottom and working your way up. Make sure that the strips overlap slightly, and leave some space in the center for the ‘trunk’ of the tree. This unique shape not only adds to the visual aesthetic but also provides plenty of gaps for the delicious dip to nestle between the branches.
  4. Once the tree shape is formed, it’s time to infuse it with flavor. Brush the entire dough surface generously with melted butter using a pastry brush. This will help achieve that crispy, golden finish while also imparting buttery goodness. Sprinkle the minced garlic, dried oregano, and a pinch of salt evenly across the dough, finishing off with the grated Parmesan cheese for an extra cheesy kick. The beautiful aroma of this combination is guaranteed to excite anyone nearby!
  5. Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and let the breadsticks bake for 12 to 15 minutes. Keep an eye on them as they transform into a delightful golden-brown color. The edges should be crispy while the inside remains soft and fluffy, creating the perfect pull-apart texture. Once baked, remove them from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Store any leftover breadsticks in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat in the oven to maintain crispiness.
