Description
A festive and delicious dish that combines sweet pears with tangy feta, cranberries, and honey.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 ripe but firm pears, halved and cored
- 1 cup feta cheese, crumbled
- 1/2 cup dried cranberries
- 3 tablespoons honey, plus extra for drizzling
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
- Fresh thyme or parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Begin by preheating your oven to 375°F (190°C). While the oven heats up, prepare your baking dish by lightly coating it with olive oil to prevent the pear halves from sticking during baking. Carefully take the ripe but firm pears and cut them in half, removing the core. Arrange the pear halves cut-side up in the prepared dish, ensuring they are evenly spaced.
- Now it’s time to enhance the flavors of your pears! Sprinkle each pear half generously with a mix of cinnamon, nutmeg, and a touch of sea salt. The warm spices will infuse the pears with a delightful aroma as they bake. Place your baking dish carefully in the preheated oven and let them bake for about 20 minutes, or until they begin to soften slightly and light caramelization forms around the edges.
- After baking the pears, it’s time for a delicious transformation. Remove the baking dish from the oven and carefully fill each half with the crumbled feta cheese and dried cranberries. The creamy feta will melt slightly, becoming a perfect counterpart to the honey drizzle that will be added later. Drizzle some honey over the stuffed pears before placing them back in the oven for another 8 to 10 minutes. This second bake will plump the cranberries and warm the filling beautifully.
- Once the pears have finished baking, take them out of the oven and drizzle with a final swirl of honey for added sweetness. For an elegant finish, garnish with fresh thyme or parsley, if desired. This will not only enhance the visual appeal but also lend a fresh flavor to contrast the rich textures.
Notes
Ensure that the pears are firm but ripe for optimal flavor and texture. Watch closely during the second baking to prevent the feta from overheating and becoming too gooey.
