Description
Indulge in the delightful taste of a Homemade Filet-O-Fish Burger, a culinary treat that combines the crispy satisfaction of a perfectly fried fish fillet with the creamy, tangy notes of tartar sauce.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 white fish fillets (such as cod or haddock)
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1/2 cup flour
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 4 soft burger buns
- 1/2 cup tartar sauce
- Lettuce leaves
- Tomato slices
- 1/4 red onion, thinly sliced
Instructions
- Begin by seasoning your white fish fillets generously with salt and pepper.
- Set up a dredging station with separate bowls for flour, beaten egg, and panko breadcrumbs. Dredge each seasoned fillet in the flour first, shaking off any excess. Next, dip them into the beaten egg, allowing the excess to drip off, and finally coat them thoroughly with panko breadcrumbs.
- Heat a tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat or preheat your deep fryer. Cook the coated fillets for about 4-5 minutes on each side until they achieve a golden, crispy exterior.
- While your fish fillets are cooking, toast your burger buns until they’re lightly golden.
- Assemble the burger by placing a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of the bun, layering on a crispy fish fillet, tartar sauce, tomato slice, and red onion. Top with the other half of the bun. Serve immediately.
Notes
Ensure oil is hot enough before frying and adjust seasoning to your preference.
